Celebrities from Kate Winslet to Beyonce Knowles have worn his gowns, and a wedding dress from Carmen Marc Volvo would put you on the list. Although Valvo’s Web site makes it very clear that “Carmen does not design gowns specifically for brides,” there are many dresses that are in his couture and collection lines that would make any bride dazzle. Some of my favorites are below. If you’re shopping to buy a Valvo at Neiman Marcus, however, the Gownella insider tip is that the dresses aren’t available in the bridal department – you’ll find them with the evening wear section.
Some background information: Valvo’s career began as a designer for Nina Ricci in Paris, followed by a stint at Christian Dior. In 1989, he launched his own label with a few thousand dollars, and in 1998 he launched his couture line.
