Fans of Project Runway will remember the glamorous wedding dresses and gowns designed by Austin Scarlett. He now designs gowns for the wedding gown manufacturer Kenneth Pool. The line he showed in Spring 2007 on the catwalk was a great example of designer’s ultra-feminine, yet slightly camp, taste. There is sophistication and a romance about his designs that suits both the ingénue and the older bride.
Sequins and crystal breads are a signature part of Austin Scarlett’s bridal gowns as are dramatic kick back pleats that hit the back of the knee and ruched bodices. Scarlett also features the heavier satins and silk that make an audible rustle as the bride walks down the aisle.
