The term modest wedding gowns refers to those that tend to have a cut that conceals the cleavage, conceals the legs and may also have longer sleeves. Usually a modest cut wedding gown also conceals the upper shoulders. There is never a low-cut back.
A high scoop neckline and cap sleeves are very characteristic of modest cut wedding gowns. The cut looks very much like a tight fitting Gap T shirt, only in silk or satin. To keep these high-cut barely-seamed bodices from looking boring, they are often overlaid with beaded netting in a caramel, pink or black color. The effect of this look is very late 1950s or early 1960s.
Some of the cuts of these gowns are quite Disney like. The classic Cinderella dress, for instance, is actual modest cut gown with cap sleeves and no sexy cleavage showing. There may be detail on the bodice to give it a bit of a medieval edge. The Cinderella style of modest wedding gown also often as a billowing chiffon skirt and is very classic in its appearance.
Another pleasing modest style is the kind that has the cap sleeves and the high-scooped neck but it has a dropped waist. These types of very formal looking gowns have a stiffer satin bodice with a silk organza skirt.
Modest style wedding gowns also do not tend to have elaborate bustles, bows or long trains and the skirt is not usually as full or flouncy as you would see on slightly more risqué or contemporary wedding gown styles.

One Response to “Modest wedding gowns”
I ordered my dress from them and they were very reasonably priced. I will come back later and post as it relates to the quality of the dress and how quickly I recieved it. I payed the extra $25 to have a “rush” put on my dress. Glad us modest women have a place to shop, but we can still be fashionable.
