If you want to wear a gown that looks it might belong a socialite who shops on Fifth Avenue then you might want to look at the Vwidon Gowns by Carla and Kenneth Collection. This designer team specializes “contemporary couture,” in the independent chic bride who wants to wear a gown that has subtle references to high fashion or classic wedding gowns from the movies.
These gowns are very simple as often is the case with more expensive couture style wedding dresses. One stunning style features a delicate crinkled taffeta wrapped around the bride’s body. The bride will look like she has been artfully wrapped in a sheet that somehow just ended up looking like a wedding dress.
These designers are very artful fabric drapers. Yet another style features loose fabric bundles that look like cabbage roses gathered and bunched around a flowing skirt. The dress looks very much like something the dancer Isadora Duncan would wear. Many of the Vwidon gowns also have a bit of a Neoclassical flair to them. The wonderful thing about them is that they all seem to be somehow made out of one or two pieces of cloth with no seams showing.
The design team of Carla and Kenneth also make several gowns that look like they should be hanging in Grace Kelly’s closet. These have simple empire bodices, very little embellishment and are made out of heavier taffeta. They are perfect for the younger bride who may be into retro styling.
