According to a story in the Coloradian by Lillian Callum Penso the newest trend in wedding dresses is for the sleek and sexy screen goddess style of wedding gown. This is direct contrast to the big puffy prom gowns and cinderalla styles with full skirts that seemed to be so popular this year. It is not that Disney is completely out, but think Little Mermaid vs. Cinderella. The screen goddess style, however, is definitely much more sophisticated than the girly styles that have been in vogue for some time.

The Hollywood screen glamour style of wedding gown is fitted tightly on top and throughout the waist and hips and tends to flaire out in a bit of a fish tail at the bottom. The bottom of the gown might have a flounce or a definitely large kick pleat. The idea is that it accentuates the hour glass figure. Classic beading, giant glamorous bows in the back and bell sleeves can also characterize this stunning look form a bygone era.

Of course the drawback of these satiny, sexy styles is that they look best on extremely fit and trim bodies and are very unforgiving when it comes to hiding any kind of figure flaws.

Melissa Sweet has a great collection of these gowns in her 2008 styles. Some are pictured here.
