wedding dressA wedding gown is an expensive investment, and keeping it looking new and beautiful is something that some brides find highly important. The sentimental value of that wedding dress, kept carefully stored in a box for years in some cases, is quite high. It is certainly possible that you will wear your gown again, and you may even choose to pass your gown on to your own children or grandchildren. To keep it looking new and beautiful, follow these tips:

~Get it cleaned. No matter what it looks like now, the oils on your body and spills like white wine will show up over time, discoloring and even weakening your dress. But don’t just use any drycleaner!

~Choose a drycleaner that advertises special wedding gown services, like this one. They should use a different set of chemicals than the ones that are used on regular clothing, and should pay special attention to how the gown is treated and cared for.

~Ask to see the gown before it is packed away. Make sure that there are no stains left, and that you are satisfied with the cleaning job that was done.

~Lastly, make sure that the gown is stuffed with tissues. This helps to prevent permanent wrinkles and creases in your wedding gown while it is stored.
